My name is Sherri. Very nice to meet you, uh... virtually. {virtual handshake or hug: whatever you're comfortable with}
Reducing chemical exposures has absolutely changed my life in ways that we have never anticipated! Over the years, I have seen countless numbers of other people's lives changed forever as well. This is seriously amazing and the best job in the world. So, naturally, I started babbling publicly about it to anyone who would listen.
Thank you for listening :)
WHAT IS THIS BLOG ABOUT?
Overthrow Martha is to focus on finding ways to make our lives cleaner and greener with a little creativity thrown in (and chocolate whenever possible). Hopefully it will bring you a healthier and happier life, but at the very least the recipes can help you save some money because DIY is CHEAP!
AND LET ME ANSWER THIS NOW because apparently my blog's name confuses people.
- Nope, my name is not Martha. This pretty much makes sense because why would I want to overthrow myself?
- The name is in reference to a domestic goddess, but I would like to think that I'm quite a bit cleaner (both in ingredients and criminal record)
It's serious work to reduce chemicals in every household of the world so I can't do it myself. You are helping me! I've teamed up with several amazing charities and I donate a portion of all my blog earnings to help fight the battle!
I was born on a dark and stormy night....
Haha, just kidding! It was totally sunny. I was born in Florida.
So let's start with my face. In this picture, I'm the one on the right-- in the black dress with the pasty white skin double fisting the wine. And, yes, I was born in Florida and I am still that pale. And, no, I am not an alcoholic. It was free and I am an opportunist.
I'm a veteran of the US Navy, a former pediatric nurse, I'm studied to get a master's degree in holistic health and now I'm a peddler of essential oils and promoter of safe cosmetics and cleaners.
Whew! Now that we got the boring stuff out of the way, let me see if I can give you an idea of who I am in a nutshell…
- I read books. Lots of books. I love books. You should love books, too. I devour words much like I devour chocolate.
- I speak three languages fluently: English, Profanity and Sarcasm. I also dabble in Spanish.
- Me gusta el chocolate y wine. Mucho. Con todo mi corazón. Para Siempre.
- It is my deepest desire to be able to redirect the effect of "extra calories" to very specific parts of my body. {Can I get an amen!?}
- I will get serious about a few things in life: animals, chemicals, and food. For the rest I can't promise anything so keep the bar low.
My family consists of 6 "people". I say "people" because most of them are pets, but they think they are people.
This is "The Man" (he is a person). He is always working on his endless honey-do-list (it will probably take him the rest of his life). When he isn't working on the house, he is off doing stuff like pimping out his car or saving lives cuz he's a fire fighter paramedic and all badass and stuff. He's recently been doing crossfit and that's been pretty not bad. This is his BEFORE picture. {wink wink} Yeah, yeah, I'm lucky and stuff. Yeah, I know {blushes}. I swear-- he is kind of perfect.
In this picture we are in Turkey checking out the ancient ruins of Ephesus. Soooo cool! If you haven't been, then you should definitely put it on your bucket list of places to go!
Together we have 4 "children": Elizabeth Taylor, Sadie Cat, Hercules and Leo, the Laziest. All of them are rescues and have blessed us more than words can say. We love them all dearly and they are some of the greatest gifts life has yet to give us! Love the fur babies!!!
I hope you enjoy the blog! MWAH!
UPDATE: Our family grew by TWO when we saved two itty bitty kittens: Diesel and Tesla. And, yes, there are TWO cats in this picture.
