I have a love hate relationship with my kitchen sink.
What I love:
Big and deep
Stainless steel
What I hate:
Looks dirty very easily
Requires a lot of scrubbing (really hate).
Abuse = scratches
::sigh::
I'm dreaming about a beautiful farmhouse ceramic sink, but until I win the lotto or inherit a large chunk of money the kitchen makeover will have to wait!
Okay, so this happened by accident, but it's marvelous!
I was using vinegar and baking soda as a drain cleaner and I may or may not have gotten distracted and I may or may not have dropped A LOT of baking soda in the skin. If I did drop a lot of baking soda in the sink, then perhaps I was lazy and just left it there for like 10 minutes until I poured hot water over it.
And then I thought "Wow. The sink looks clean."
Yes!! Easy cleaning method accidentally discovered! Score!
That is what I call a win.
What You Need:
- Vinegar
- Baking Soda
- Oil (any kind really-- even baby oil works)
- Lemon Juice (optional)
Look at your dirty sink in disgust and then be happy that soon it will sparkle!
Pour the baking soda into the sink (generous amount) and get it a little wet so it looks like a paste. I recommend using lemon juice, but you can also use water. After you make the paste, spread it all around your sink.
Put some vinegar in a spray bottle and squirt the baking soda to make it wet and fizzle, then leave it alone for about 10 minutes.
After ten minutes, pour some HOT water in the sink to remove the vinegar/baking soda mix.
This is what the sink looked like with NO scrubbing. I just wiped it with a paper towel to dry it and it easily removed a lot of grim. Ew.
Now pour a little bit of oil into the sink and rub it around with a paper towel. Let it sit for a few minutes and then wash it off with water.
This is what my sink looked like after I wiped it with a paper towel to remove the water
Shiny! And it barely took any work.
